CTO
Magdrive
Dr Thomas Clayson is CTO and co-Founder of Magdrive Ltd, a VC-backed company that is developing the next generation of electrical propulsion systems for in-space flight. Magdrive is headquartered in Oxfordshire with over 25 full time staff and their first in orbit mission is scheduled for July 2025. Dr Clayson is an experimental plasma physicist with expertise in spacecraft propulsion, pulsed power, laboratory astrophysics and nuclear fusion and relevant technical understanding of space hardware, software and the orbital environment.
Magdrive is developing the next generation of spacecraft propulsion for satellites today, deep space and beyond tomorrow. With high thrust and high efficiency at low mass, the Magdrive’s magnitude improvement in manoeuvrability enables entirely new missions and business models, including high cadence avoidance manoeuvres in congested Low-Earth Orbit, repeated rendezvous and close-proximity operations for satellite servicing and orbital manufacturing and stochastic movement to make defense satellites untraceable.
PANEL: THE CISLUNAR ECONOMY
CisLunar space is a vital region that bridges Earth and the Moon, offering unparalleled opportunities for exploration, scientific research, and economic development. Its strategic importance makes it a focal point for both governmental and commercial space
