Emma joined National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in 2016, and after successfully leading teams within the Environment and Quantum Departments, she was appointed Head of the Time and Frequency Department where she played a critical role in conceiving and delivering the flagship National Timing Centre programme. Appointed as Partnerships Director in 2022, Emma is now responsible for maximising the impact and the financial sustainability of NPL.
NPL is the UK’s National Metrology Institute, providing the measurement capability that underpins the UK's prosperity and quality of life. From new antibiotics to tackle resistance and more effective cancer treatments, to secure quantum communications and superfast 5G, technological advances must be built on a foundation of reliable measurement to succeed.
